Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know about buying and selling retired LEGO with BuyMyBricks.

Buying from us
Are the sets genuinely factory sealed? +
Yes — 100%. BuyMyBricks only sells factory-sealed LEGO sets. Every set is inspected when it arrives at our warehouse. We verify that all original factory seals are intact, check the box for any shelf wear or transit damage, and photograph the set from multiple angles before it enters our inventory. Sets that do not meet our condition standards are not listed for sale. Occasionally, for retired sets we don’t currently hold in stock, we source from our network of verified UK suppliers — these are also guaranteed factory sealed and unopened.
How long does delivery take? +
Most orders are dispatched within 1–2 working days and arrive within 1–3 working days via tracked courier. Free tracked shipping applies to all orders over £85. Some retired sets sourced through our verified supplier network may take 3–7 working days for dispatch. You’ll receive full tracking details by email as soon as your parcel is on its way.
Can I pay by Klarna / Apple Pay / PayPal? +
Yes — we offer a wide range of payment options at checkout. You can pay with Visa, Mastercard, or American Express, as well as PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay, and Shop Pay. For higher-value retired LEGO sets, we also offer Klarna Pay in 3, which splits your payment into three equal interest-free instalments. This is especially popular with collectors buying sets in the £150–£500+ range, as it makes investment-grade LEGO more accessible without paying interest. All payments are processed securely through Shopify Payments with full PCI compliance, so your card details are never stored on our servers. If you’re buying as a business, we can also accommodate bank transfer for bulk or trade orders — just contact us to arrange it. All prices on site are shown in GBP and include UK VAT. You’ll see every payment option clearly at checkout with no surprises.
Do you offer VAT receipts? +
Yes. BuyMyBricks is a UK VAT-registered business, and we can provide a full VAT receipt for any order on request. This is important for business buyers, corporate gifting, and anyone who needs to reclaim VAT on purchases. Unlike many private sellers on eBay or marketplace platforms, we’re a legitimate registered retailer — which means you get proper documentation, consumer rights protection under UK law, and a 30-day returns policy. If you need a VAT invoice, just drop us a message after your order and we’ll email it over, usually within the same working day. For bulk or corporate orders — for example company gifts, team-building events, or promotional giveaways — we can provide itemised invoices and arrange delivery to multiple addresses. Being VAT registered also means our prices already include tax, so there are no surprises at checkout.
Returns & condition
What’s your returns policy? +
We offer a full 30-day returns window from the date you receive your order. If your retired LEGO set arrives damaged, isn’t as described, or you simply change your mind, get in touch and we’ll sort it — no hassle, no awkward questions. We ask that sets are returned in the same factory-sealed condition they were sent, with original packaging intact. Once we receive the return and confirm the condition, we process your refund within two working days back to your original payment method. If a set arrived damaged in transit, we’ll cover the return shipping cost. For change-of-mind returns, we ask that you cover the return postage. We recommend using a tracked service so you have proof of delivery back to us. For the full terms and any edge cases, see our Returns Policy. We believe in making returns as straightforward as the buying experience — it’s part of being a trusted UK LEGO retailer.
What if the box is damaged in transit? +
Every order from BuyMyBricks is fully insured during transit to its complete value — whether it’s a £15 polybag or a £500+ UCS set. If your box arrives damaged, here’s exactly what to do: photograph the outer shipping packaging and the LEGO box itself before you unpack anything further, then contact us by email or through our contact page with the photos and your order number. We’ll respond the same working day and offer you two options — a full replacement (subject to stock) or a complete refund. You won’t need to argue or escalate anything. Box condition matters to collectors, and we take transit damage seriously. Claims are processed quickly, and we handle the courier claim ourselves so you don’t have to. It’s part of the peace of mind you get when buying from a specialist LEGO retailer rather than a random marketplace seller.
Selling your LEGO
Do you buy LEGO from the public? +
Yes — buying retired LEGO from the public is a big part of what we do. If you have factory-sealed sets sitting in a cupboard, inherited a collection, or bought sets as investments and want to cash out, we’d love to hear from you. We offer honest, market-based valuations using current BrickLink and eBay sold data — not lowball offers. The process is simple: head to our Sell Your LEGO page, send us photos and details of what you have, and we’ll come back with a price. If you’re happy, you ship the sets to us (we can arrange collection for larger lots), and once we’ve inspected and confirmed condition, we pay within one working day by bank transfer. No waiting around. We regularly buy collections ranging from single high-value sets to bulk lots of 50+ boxes. Whether you have one LEGO Technic Porsche or an entire shelf of retired Star Wars sets, get in touch.
What sets do you buy? +
We focus on retired, factory-sealed LEGO sets across the most collectible themes — Technic, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Ideas, Creator Expert, Architecture, Disney, and Modular Buildings are our core categories. Larger and more valuable sets with an original retail price of £100 or more are our preference, as these tend to hold and grow their value the best. That said, we also buy desirable smaller sets, polybags, GWPs (Gift With Purchase promos), and limited editions if they have genuine collector demand. The key requirements are that the set must be retired by LEGO, the factory seal must be completely intact, and the box should be in reasonable condition. We don’t buy open, used, or incomplete sets — that’s a different market. If you’re unsure whether your sets qualify, just send us a list or photos and we’ll give you an honest answer. There’s no obligation and we respond quickly.
How quickly do you pay? +
Fast. Once we’ve agreed a price and received your retired LEGO sets, we inspect them on arrival to confirm the factory seals and box condition match what was described. Assuming everything checks out — and it almost always does — we pay within one working day by UK bank transfer directly to your account. No PayPal fees, no holding periods, no messing around. If we’ve agreed a deal, we honour it. For larger collections worth £1,000 or more, we can discuss part-payment upfront before you ship if that gives you more confidence. We’ve bought hundreds of sets from private sellers across the UK and our Trustpilot reviews reflect how straightforward the process is. We know that selling a LEGO collection can feel like a big decision — especially if the sets have sentimental value or you’ve held them as investments. We make it as quick and painless as possible so you can move on with cash in your account.
