Got questions?
The things people ask
Buying
Is it genuine and factory sealed, and what if it is not?
Every set is checked before it is listed: the factory seals and tape first, then the corners and edges, and anything worth knowing about the box goes on the listing. If a set from us is not genuine and factory sealed, tell me and I refund in full and pay the return postage. We sell sealed retired sets and nothing else, so there is no opened or used stock for yours to get mixed up with. Returns for any other reason are within 30 days, sealed, as the returns policy says.
When will it arrive?
It depends on the set, and the product page says which before you buy. A set on our shelf ordered before 3pm on a working day goes out the same day, tracked and insured, and UK orders arrive within 1 to 3 working days. A set marked as dispatched within 3 to 7 working days goes out inside that window, tracked and insured. Either way you get the tracking number by email as soon as it is on its way, and tracked UK delivery is free over £85.
How is it packed, and what if the box arrives damaged?
The set box travels inside a second carton with fill, so the courier handles the outer box and not the one you are keeping, and every parcel is insured to its full value. If it still turns up damaged, photograph the outer packaging and the set box before you unpack any further, then email support@buymybricks.com with the photos and your order number the same day. We reply the same working day with a replacement if we have one or a full refund, and we deal with the courier claim ourselves so you do not have to.
Do you ship outside the UK?
Yes to the United States and Canada, with tracked and insured delivery costed at checkout before you pay. We do not ship to the EU at the moment. Everywhere in the UK is covered by the standard tracked service.
Can I return it?
Yes, within 30 days of delivery. If it arrived damaged or not as described, tell us and we pay the return postage and refund in full or replace it. If you have simply changed your mind, the set needs to come back sealed and as it arrived, and the return postage is yours. The refund goes back to the card you paid with within 3 working days of the set landing back with us. Use a tracked service so there is proof of delivery.
Is there a discount code?
Yes. Join the email list on any page and your first-order code comes through in the first email, along with what has just landed. We do not print the code on the site, so the list is the way to get it.
Can I pay in instalments?
Yes. Klarna Pay in 3 is at checkout: three equal payments, no interest and nothing extra to pay. Visa, Mastercard, American Express, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Shop Pay are all there too. Payment is handled by Shopify Payments and we never see your card details.
Is it going to be a gift?
Tell us in the order notes at checkout and no prices or invoice go in the parcel. Sending it straight to them is fine: put their address as the delivery address and keep yours as the billing address.
Can I have a VAT invoice?
Yes. We are VAT registered and every price on the site already includes VAT. Reply to your order confirmation asking for one and it comes back the same working day. For a business or bulk order, email support@buymybricks.com before you buy and we will sort an itemised invoice.
Not the set you want?
Tell us the set number and we will look for a sealed one through the trade. If we find one at a sensible price you get an email with the link before it goes on the site. Ask us to find it.
Everything in stock is on our retired LEGO sets page.
Selling
Will I get a fair price?
Yes. Every set is priced on its own, on what that set actually sells for sealed, and you get the figure before anything moves. We are not going to pretend we match what you would make selling all of it yourself over a year. What you get instead is the whole lot gone in one go, at a price we tell you up front and stand by.
Can I sell it today?
Send your list this morning and you will usually have a price back within the hour. If you are happy with it we will sort the collection out there and then. Whether we send a carrier or come and do it ourselves depends on how much there is, and we will tell you which when we give you the price.
Do I get cash?
Bank transfer, done on the day we collect and before we leave, so you can watch it land. It is faster and safer than counting notes on a doorstep, and you have a record of it.
Am I committed to anything?
No. The valuation is free and there is no obligation at either end. Plenty of people ask for a price just to find out what they are sitting on, and that is absolutely fine. If you do not like the number, say so and that is the end of it.
Why not just sell it myself?
If you have one or two good sets, do. You will do better. A collection is a different job entirely. Every box photographed, every listing written, every daft question answered, every one packed and posted, then the buyer who says it arrived damaged, the one who opens a case, the one who wants a refund three weeks later, and the fees. Do that four hundred times and it is your evenings gone for the best part of a year. We take the lot in one go and you are done by the weekend.
Can you change the price when it arrives?
No, unless there is damage or something that was not disclosed. If everything matches your list, the price we gave you is the price you are paid. If a box turns up crushed, or there are sets missing that were on the list, we will talk to you about those specific items. What we will not do is re-open the whole deal once your boxes are already loaded.
How many sets do I need?
We are set up for collections rather than single sets. If you have one or two sealed sets you will do better selling them yourself, and we would rather tell you that than waste your afternoon. A cupboard, a loft or a unit full is exactly what we are after.
What if I do not have a list?
Send photographs of the piles instead. It is not ideal, but we can work from it and come back to you with the questions we need answering.
Do I have to post it?
Not for a big collection. We come to you anywhere in the UK, at our cost, and we do the loading. For smaller lots postage is easier for everyone and we cover that as well.
Is my collection too big?
No. The bigger the better, and we would rather take the whole thing than pick the best bits out and leave you with the awkward leftovers nobody wants.
Where are you based?
York, at Wellington House on Aviator Court. We collect anywhere in the UK, and if you are passing you are welcome to bring the boxes to us. Email sell@buymybricks.com first so somebody is in.
What do you not buy?
Loose bricks, built sets, minifigure tubs and opened sets. If it is sealed and retired, send it over. If you are not sure whether yours qualify, send the list anyway and we will give you a straight answer.
Trade
Do you sell to other sellers?
Yes. If you sell LEGO® yourself, on eBay, live, at shows or from a shop, you can apply for a trade account. Tell us about your business on the trade accounts page and Peter reads every application himself, usually the same working day.
How does a trade account work?
We send a price sheet about twice a month, priced and ready to go, scaled to your order size. See something you want, let us know. Payment is in full by bank transfer before anything leaves us, then you collect free or we post it and quote the postage. Some lines are only ones and twos, so it pays to move quickly.
Do I need to be VAT registered for a trade account?
No. We ask which VAT scheme you are on because it changes which stock is worth sending you. Standard-rated stock carries a VAT invoice you can reclaim against; margin-scheme stock does not, whatever your own VAT status.
