About BuyMyBricks

Retired LEGO, bought properly.

Hi, I’m Peter Pilling. I run BuyMyBricks from Yorkshire.

Peter Pilling at the BuyMyBricks warehouse

I loved LEGO as a child. It was the one thing I’d ask for every birthday, and the sets I built back then are still some of the things I remember most clearly. When I got older I kept buying, and I started noticing how quickly the good ones disappeared once LEGO retired them. A set you could pick up for £60 on a shelf was suddenly £180 on eBay, often from sellers who wouldn’t answer basic questions about the box. I started BuyMyBricks in 2022 to be a better option than that.

What we actually do

We’re a UK specialist in retired, factory-sealed LEGO sets. That’s the whole focus. Not new releases, not used builds, not minifigures pulled out of polybags. Sealed boxes of sets that LEGO has stopped producing, sold to people who want to build them, display them, or pass them on.

Our catalogue covers more than 5,635 retired sets across every major theme: Technic, Star Wars, Harry Potter, Icons, Ideas, Creator, Architecture, City, Friends, Ninjago, Marvel, Disney, Speed Champions. If LEGO made it and then stopped, it’s probably listed here.

How we source

We buy retired LEGO in volume from verified wholesale partners and run every set through our warehouse. Shipments are logged by set number, photographed, and stored sealed. Nothing goes on the site until it’s been through that process.

Going in at wholesale volume is how we keep prices sensible. We’re not paying retail and then trying to resell at a margin on top. It’s also how we can stock the obscure themes as well as the bestsellers, because we’re not cherry-picking what looks easy to flip.

How we inspect

“Sealed” is doing a lot of work on the rest of the internet. We use it literally. Every set that comes through the warehouse is checked for:

  • Original factory seals intact on all flaps
  • No re-taping, no replacement seals, no signs of opening
  • Box condition graded honestly (minor shelf wear is normal on retired sets and we say so)
  • Set number verified against the LEGO database

If a box fails any of this, it doesn’t get listed. If one ever turns up at your door in a state that isn’t what we described, it comes back on us and we refund it. That’s not a marketing line, it’s the policy.

How we ship

Free tracked UK delivery on orders over £85. We ship with Royal Mail, UPS, DPD and other tracked couriers depending on the size and weight of the set. Most Technic boxes and big Icons sets go with UPS or DPD because the boxes need a bit more care in transit.

Larger sets get extra protective packaging. Retired LEGO boxes are half of what you’re paying for, so they travel properly.

If something goes wrong in transit, we deal with the carrier, not you. 30-day return window, no questions asked.

Who this is for

Most of our customers are adult builders. People who grew up with LEGO, stepped away for twenty years, and came back to it as a way to switch off on a Sunday afternoon. Some buy for themselves. Some buy for a partner or a parent who used to build Technic sets in the 1980s. A few collect, most build.

We don’t sell LEGO as an investment. We sell it as the set you remember or the set you never got as a kid, factory sealed, delivered properly.
