We are not guessing at what your sets are worth
We buy whole collections and container loads every month, so we already know what your sets sell for and how fast. That is why you get one price for the lot instead of a haggle set by set, and why the price is agreed before anything moves. I try my hardest to beat anyone else in the UK, so if you have had another quote, send it over with your list.

Four steps, and three of them are mine
Send the list
Set numbers and rough quantities, however they come.
One number for the lot
I price it myself and come back the same day. It is an estimate until I have seen the boxes, in person or in photos. Everything is dealt with by me, start to finish.
I sort the carriage
Bigger lots I collect myself, anywhere in the country. Smaller lots I pick up on a run going your way, or UPS collects from your door. You pay nothing for any of it.
Paid on the day
If I collect, you are paid before I leave. If it comes by UPS, you are paid the same working day it arrives.
It depends on the size of the lot

I would always rather collect in person. Once we agree a price, I fit you into my collection round, which is why I ask where you are.
If it comes by post instead
You do not spend a penny
- Send me a clear photo of every box. I agree the price from those photos.
- Need boxes? I post you strong double-wall boxes, bubble wrap and corner protectors, free.
- I email you the UPS labels to print, one per box.
- Pack it as shown below and take a photo of the boxes packed.
- Pick a day and UPS collects from your door. Please be in, as the driver needs the boxes handed over. If you miss it, I rebook it.
- I book insurance on every box for the agreed value. The sets, and the risk, stay yours until they reach me. If a box is lost or damaged, I make the claim and pass on whatever the insurer pays.
- I film every box being opened and check each set against your photos. You are paid by bank transfer the same working day.
How to pack it
- Wrap each set in bubble wrap, with a corner protector on the corners.
- No tape on the LEGO boxes themselves. Tape pulls the print off.
- Big sets flat on the bottom, smaller ones on top, and paper in every gap so nothing moves when you shake it.
- No heavier than 20 kg a box. A bigger lot goes in more than one box.
- Take a photo of the packed box, then tape every seam shut.
- Still in LEGO's own brown shipping cartons? Tell me, as those can often go as they are.
From what sets actually sell for
I price every set myself from what it has actually sold for recently, not from what people are asking. I try my hardest to pay the best price in the UK, and you get one number for the whole lot.
FAQs
What do you buy?
Sealed sets. If it is sealed, we buy it. We do not buy loose bricks, built sets, minifigure tubs or opened sets.
What if some of the boxes are damaged?
Please be open with us about it, and send us pictures of the damaged boxes. We price them on their condition.
How do you work out the price?
On past sales data. Most of the time we have already sold the set ourselves, so we know what it sells for and what the market is paying for it.
I have had another quote. Can you beat it?
Let us know what it is and we will try our best to beat it or match it.
How and when do I get paid?
In one bank transfer. Ideally we collect, and you are paid before we leave. If it comes by post, which is rare, you are paid the same working day it arrives.
Do I pay anything for collection, postage or packing?
No. We cover all of it.
Where do you collect from?
Anywhere in the UK.
What happens if a box is lost or damaged on the way?
We sort it out case by case. We film everything as it arrives with us, so if a box was packed properly and goes missing, we claim on the insurance.
Will the price change when the sets arrive?
If you have been open and honest about any damage, it should not. Nothing should get damaged in transit, but if something does, we work it out case by case.
Am I committed once I send my list?
No. There is no commitment.
How quickly can you do it?
As fast as one day. If you have the right list and the stock we are after, we can price it and be with you the next day. It all depends on what you have.
Can I have a price for each set?
We typically do not price set by set. We price the lot as a whole, because the different sets in it sell at different speeds.
Will you buy just some of my sets?
Yes. We can work out a part deal.
Can I drop them off in York?
Yes, that is no problem. Get in touch and we will arrange a time.
Who are you?
BuyMyBricks is me, Peter, in York, trading as Peter James Trading Ltd (company number 15028631). Every list is priced and handled by me, start to finish.
The small print
- What I buy. Sealed LEGO sets, retired or not, in lots worth £500 or more. I do not buy loose bricks, built sets, minifigure tubs or opened sets.
- The price. I price from your list and come back the same day. It is an estimate until I have seen a clear photo of every box, or the boxes in person. Once you accept the price from the photos, that is the price for the lot, apart from point 7.
- Carriage. Bigger lots I collect in person, anywhere in the country. Smaller lots I collect when I am passing, or I book UPS to collect from your door, and I tell you which when I price it. I post you boxes and packing if you need them. I pay for all of it.
- Collection day. Please be in on the day you pick. If UPS cannot collect, I rebook it.
- While it travels. Your sets, and the risk, stay yours until they reach me. I book insurance on every box for the agreed value of what is inside. If a box is lost or damaged on the way, I make the claim and pass on whatever the insurer pays, but I cannot guarantee what they pay. Please pack the sets as described above, because an insurer can refuse a claim on a box that was not packed properly.
- When it arrives. I film every box being opened and check every set against your photos.
- If something is different. If a set is not what its photo showed (a different set, opened, resealed or damaged), I tell you which one and why, show you, and offer a new price for that set only. If you would rather keep it, I send it back to you at my cost.
- Payment. One bank transfer, the same working day your boxes arrive, or the next working day if they arrive after 2pm. If I collect, you are paid before I leave.
- Changing your mind. Nothing is final until you accept the price, and you can still say no at any point before UPS collects.
