How We Source

How We Source Retired LEGO

BuyMyBricks doesn't wait for stock to appear on marketplaces. We actively track every LEGO set approaching retirement on LEGO.com and source inventory before sets disappear from primary channels. This means our catalogue includes recently retired sets that other retailers haven't stocked yet — the sets that typically appreciate fastest in the first 12-24 months after discontinuation.

Where our stock comes from

We source from a network of verified suppliers across the UK and Europe — authorised LEGO distributors, wholesale partners, and private collectors. We do not buy from unverified marketplace sellers, and we do not source from regions with known counterfeit supply chain risks. Every supplier relationship is established and vetted.

We also buy directly from the public. If you have retired, factory-sealed LEGO sets you'd like to sell, we offer fair, market-based valuations using current BrickLink and eBay sold data. We pay within one working day by bank transfer. Visit our Sell Your LEGO page to get started.

Inspection process

Every set that enters our inventory goes through a double-inspection process:

Inspection 1 — On arrival. When stock arrives at our warehouse in York, each set is individually checked. We verify that the original LEGO factory seals are intact and untampered, assess box condition for any shelf wear, creasing, or transit damage, and photograph the set from multiple angles. Sets that don't meet our condition standards are not listed for sale.

Inspection 2 — Before dispatch. When you place an order, the set is inspected and photographed a second time before it's packaged and shipped. This creates a photographic record of the exact condition that left our hands — protecting both you and us in the unlikely event of a transit damage claim.

Why this matters

In the retired LEGO market, factory seal integrity is everything. A sealed set can be worth 20-50% more than an opened one. Resealed boxes — where someone has opened the set, removed valuable minifigures, and reapplied fake seals — are a real problem on platforms like eBay and Facebook. Our double-inspection process exists specifically to ensure that every set we sell is genuinely factory sealed, exactly as LEGO produced it.

We know what authentic LEGO seals look like across different production eras and factory locations. That knowledge is what makes a specialist retailer different from a marketplace seller.

Storage

All stock is stored in our climate-controlled warehouse in York, England. Sets are stored flat or upright (never stacked with weight on top), in a dry environment away from direct sunlight. Box condition matters to collectors, and we treat every set as the investment-grade product it is.
