How the BuyMyBricks price match works
It’s simple. If you find the same retired LEGO set cheaper at another UK VAT-registered retailer, email us the link or a screenshot before you buy, and we’ll match the price. Just three conditions:
- Same set, same condition. We match on genuine factory-sealed retired LEGO. We don’t match used, opened, or reassembled sets against our sealed stock.
- UK VAT-registered retailer. The competing price must be from a UK business with a verifiable VAT number. We don’t match eBay private sellers, BrickLink individual traders, or overseas stores. That’s because we can’t verify the sealing standards of those sources.
- In stock on both sides. The set has to be in stock with us and in stock with the competitor at the time you ask. We can’t match against sold-out listings.
Why we price match
Because the worst thing in retail is buying something and then feeling stung when you see it cheaper elsewhere. We’d rather match the price and keep you as a customer. Our pricing is benchmarked weekly against eBay sold listings, Amazon, BrickLink, and other UK specialist retailers — so you shouldn’t see a big gap often. But when it happens, we want the conversation.
What we won’t match
Honesty matters here, because a price match promise is only worth something if it has edges. We don’t match against:
- Private eBay sellers with no VAT registration
- BrickLink or Brick Owl individual listings
- Overseas stores (Europe, US, Asia) — their cost base is different
- Used, opened, resealed, or damaged-box sets (we only match like-for-like factory sealed)
- Time-limited promotional prices (Black Friday, flash sales) after the promotion has ended
- Cases where the competitor appears to be loss-leading or selling below cost
How to claim a price match
Email our support team via the contact form with:
- The LEGO set number you want
- The URL of the cheaper competitor listing
- A screenshot or page capture (in case the listing changes before we can verify)
We respond within the same day on weekdays and process the match on the spot. You place the order at the matched price, we ship it like any other order: factory sealed, tracked UK delivery, 30-day returns.
Our normal pricing approach
We set our prices by checking live sold listings on eBay, Amazon’s UK buy-box price, BrickLink average sold prices, and competitor stock. For most retired LEGO sets our list price sits at or slightly below the weighted average of those sources. We don’t inflate prices hoping nobody notices — the UK retired LEGO market is small enough that price gouging gets called out on Reddit within hours.
What if the price drops after I buy?
If we drop the price on a set within 30 days of your purchase, contact support with your order number and we’ll refund the difference. No forms, no hoops. Same rule applies if we discover a genuine price error that we’ve been running too high.

Yes, on any set we currently have in stock. If we don’t stock the set, we can’t match it, but we can usually source it within 2-3 weeks — email support to check.
Does the price match work on eBay sellers?
Only UK VAT-registered eBay business sellers with a verifiable VAT number. Individual eBay sellers don’t qualify because we can’t verify the sealing standard or authenticity process.
How fast do you respond to a price match request?
Same working day on weekday requests. Weekend requests usually get a response by Monday morning.
Will you beat the competitor price, not just match?
Match only. Beating the price would start a race to the bottom that hurts everyone in the UK retired LEGO market. Matching is the fair middle ground.
What if I find a lower price after ordering?
If the lower price existed at the time of your order and is still there, we’ll refund the difference up to 30 days after your order. Email support with your order number.
