Buying LEGO Wholesale for Live Selling

Short answer

Live selling needs volume and it needs it on a date. That makes two things matter more than price: enough depth to fill a show without repeating the same box all night, and a supplier who tells you the truth about condition so you are not describing a dented box on camera.

Key takeaways
  • Depth fills a show. A spread of singles runs out mid-stream.
  • Condition honesty matters more on camera than anywhere else.
  • Order against your show date, not the other way round.
  • Ask what the worst box looks like. You will be holding it up.
  • Payment clears before dispatch, so build that into your timing.

Live selling has a different shape from listing online, and suppliers who have not done it tend to miss what actually matters. Price is the third priority at best.

Volume, on a date

A show needs enough stock to run for its whole length with variety. Running out is a problem, but so is having forty of one set and nothing else, because an audience that sees the same box six times stops watching.

Condition is a camera problem

On a marketplace listing you photograph the best angle and describe the rest. On a live stream you pick the box up and turn it round. Anything you were not told about is discovered in real time, in front of everybody, and it costs you more than the set is worth.

So ask specifically: what does the worst box in this line look like, and are any of them dented, creased or faded? A supplier who answers precisely is worth more to a live seller than one who is ten per cent cheaper.

Timing, which is the thing that goes wrong

The single most common timing mistake is treating the sheet date as the start of the clock. The clock starts when payment clears.

Stage Plan for
Sheet arrives Roughly twice a month, by email
You reply with lines Same day if you want them held. Lines go to whoever pays first
Payment In full before dispatch or collection. No credit on a new account
Delivery At your cost. Courier for most orders, pallet for larger ones
Your show Work backwards from this date, not forwards from the sheet

What we have and what we do not

  • Sealed, unopened retired sets. That is the whole of it.
  • No opened sets, no built models, no loose bricks by weight.
  • Depth is genuinely uneven. Some lines run deep, some are only ones and twos, and the sheet says which.
  • No current-range stock. Nothing here is available in shops.

Why retired suits live selling

A retired set cannot be checked against a supermarket price while you are talking about it, because it is not on sale anywhere. That removes the constant price comparison that makes current range hard to sell live, and it gives you something genuine to say about why it is not in shops any more.

VAT, briefly

We hold both standard-rate and margin-scheme stock. A margin-scheme invoice cannot show VAT and carries nothing reclaimable, whatever your own position. If you are VAT registered that changes your real cost, so ask which treatment applies before you work out your show pricing.

Building a show around depth

Depth changes how you can run a stream, not just what you have to sell.

  • You can repeat a line later in the show for people who joined late, without it feeling like the same box.
  • You can open at a lower price on a deep line and let the room set the level, knowing you have more.
  • You can hold some back for the next show rather than clearing everything in one night.
  • You learn what your room actually wants, because five units at different moments is real information.

The flip side: do not buy depth in a theme you have never sold. Buy depth in what has already worked for your audience, and use the ones and twos to test anything new.

Common questions

The ones live sellers ask before a first order.

How far ahead should I order for a show?

Work backwards from your show date and remember the clock starts when payment clears, not when the sheet arrives. Allow for delivery on top.

Can you hold stock until my show?

Lines go to whoever pays first, so the way to hold something is to pay for it. We can usually be flexible on when it actually ships.

What condition are the boxes in?

Described per line, and where a line is mixed we say so and price it accordingly. Ask what the worst box looks like, because on camera you will be holding it.

Do you have current range sets?

No. Sealed retired sets only. Nothing we sell is available in shops, which is part of why it works on a stream.

Get on the sheet before your next show

Apply with a few details about what you sell and how often you stream. A person reads every application, usually the same working day.
