Why we rate this set

Ideas - Jane Goodall Tribute (40530)

Released in 2022 as part of the LEGO Ideas platform, 40530 Jane Goodall Tribute was a bold departure from typical LEGO fare, a celebration of the primatologist's life and legacy rather than a vehicle or landmark. With 276 pieces and a modest footprint, it offered something rare: a set designed for intellectual collectors rather than builders chasing scale or complexity. LEGO retired it after just one year in 2023, making sealed examples increasingly scarce. This was never a mass-produced set, and now that production has ended, sealed copies represent the only way to own it in its original, ...
In depth

The full description

The LEGO Ideas – Jane Goodall Tribute (40530) is a fan-designed set that made it through LEGO’s Ideas voting platform and into official production. Retired Ideas sets are genuinely finite, LEGO does not re-issue Ideas sets once retired, unlike some other themes.

What you get

  • Factory-sealed LEGO Ideas set 40530
  • Original LEGO box with intact factory seals on all flaps
  • All original sealed inner bags containing the complete piece count
  • Official LEGO instruction booklet, unopened and crease-free
  • All minifigures or accessories supplied with the original LEGO release
  • Free UK tracked delivery on orders over £85
  • 30-day no-quibble returns on every order

Why this retired Ideas set matters

LEGO Ideas is the one LEGO theme where retirement is structurally permanent. Ideas sets start as fan submissions, go through community voting, and get produced as official LEGO sets, but LEGO’s policy is that Ideas sets do not get re-issued once retired. That’s why retired Ideas sets occupy a specific niche in the UK collector market: they’re genuinely one-and-done.

The build experience on Ideas sets reflects the fan designer’s original intent, tuned by the LEGO design team into a production-ready set.

Who this is for

At £31.99, this is an accessible retired LEGO set. Perfect for completing a theme, building a smaller scene, or adding to an existing collection.

Condition guarantee

Every LEGO set we list has been inspected on arrival at our Yorkshire warehouse. We check:

  • Original factory seal stickers on all box flaps, no re-taping
  • No signs of opening and re-sealing (edge creases, lifted corners)
  • Set number on the box matches the listed set
  • Box condition graded honestly, minor shelf wear is normal on retired sets and we describe it where present

If any set fails any of these checks on arrival, it doesn’t get listed. If a sealed set reaches you in a state that doesn’t match our description, it comes back on us and we refund in full.

Delivery and returns

Free tracked UK delivery on orders over £85. We ship with Royal Mail, UPS, and DPD depending on the size and weight of the set. Larger boxes go with UPS or DPD because they need more careful handling in transit. 30-day returns, full refund, no questions asked.

Frequently asked questions about the Ideas – Jane Goodall Tribute 40530

Is the LEGO Ideas – Jane Goodall Tribute 40530 really sealed?

Yes. Every copy we list has been inspected for original factory seals, no re-taping, and set-number match before it goes on the site. If a box fails any of these checks it doesn’t get listed. If a sealed set arrives at your door looking anything other than factory sealed, we refund in full.

When did LEGO retire the 40530?

LEGO has officially retired this set, which means it’s no longer in production. Exact retirement dates on specific sets can be confirmed via LEGO.com or BrickEconomy. Our stock is sourced from previously-produced sealed inventory through verified wholesale channels.

What’s included in the box?

All original sealed inner bags with the complete piece count, the official LEGO instruction booklet (unopened and crease-free), and all minifigures or accessories supplied with the original LEGO release. Since the box is sealed we don’t open it to verify contents directly, but sealed LEGO boxes with intact factory seals contain the complete set as produced.

How fast will the Ideas – Jane Goodall Tribute arrive in the UK?

Most orders dispatch within 1-2 working days from our Yorkshire warehouse. Tracked UK delivery typically arrives within 2-3 business days via Royal Mail, UPS, or DPD depending on box size. Free delivery on orders over £85.

Can I return the 40530 if I change my mind?

Yes. 30-day returns on every order, full refund, no questions asked. For change-of-mind returns the customer covers return postage. For faulty or misdescribed sets we cover return postage and refund in full.

Common questions

The things people ask

Is it genuine and factory sealed, and what if it is not?
Every set is checked before it is listed: the factory seals and tape first, then the corners and edges, and anything worth knowing about the box goes on the listing. If a set from us is not genuine and factory sealed, tell me and I refund in full and pay the return postage. We sell sealed retired sets and nothing else, so there is no opened or used stock for yours to get mixed up with. Returns for any other reason are within 30 days, sealed, as the returns policy says.
When will it arrive?
Order before 3pm on a working day and it goes out the same day, tracked and insured. UK orders arrive within 1 to 3 working days, and you get the tracking number by email as soon as it is on its way. Tracked UK delivery is free over £85.
How is it packed, and what if the box arrives damaged?
The set box travels inside a second carton with fill, so the courier handles the outer box and not the one you are keeping, and every parcel is insured to its full value. If it still turns up damaged, photograph the outer packaging and the set box before you unpack any further, then email support@buymybricks.com with the photos and your order number the same day. We reply the same working day with a replacement if we have one or a full refund, and we deal with the courier claim ourselves so you do not have to.
Do you ship outside the UK?
Yes to the United States and Canada, with tracked and insured delivery costed at checkout before you pay. We do not ship to the EU at the moment. Everywhere in the UK is covered by the standard tracked service.
Can I return it?
Yes, within 30 days of delivery. If it arrived damaged or not as described, tell us and we pay the return postage and refund in full or replace it. If you have simply changed your mind, the set needs to come back sealed and as it arrived, and the return postage is yours. The refund goes back to the card you paid with within 3 working days of the set landing back with us. Use a tracked service so there is proof of delivery.
Is there a discount code?
Yes. Join the email list on any page and your first-order code comes through in the first email, along with what has just landed. We do not print the code on the site, so the list is the way to get it.
Can I pay in instalments?
Yes. Klarna Pay in 3 is at checkout: three equal payments, no interest and nothing extra to pay. Visa, Mastercard, American Express, PayPal, Apple Pay, Google Pay and Shop Pay are all there too. Payment is handled by Shopify Payments and we never see your card details.
Is it going to be a gift?
Tell us in the order notes at checkout and no prices or invoice go in the parcel. Sending it straight to them is fine: put their address as the delivery address and keep yours as the billing address.
Can I have a VAT invoice?
Yes. We are VAT registered and every price on the site already includes VAT. Reply to your order confirmation asking for one and it comes back the same working day. For a business or bulk order, email support@buymybricks.com before you buy and we will sort an itemised invoice.
Not the set you want?
Tell us the set number and we will look for a sealed one through the trade. If we find one at a sensible price you get an email with the link before it goes on the site. Ask us to find it.
